Sole E95 Elliptical Trainer (2011 Model) Review

The Sole E95 is the best of Sole’s elliptical trainers.  Some of the major pros include the adjustable power incline, the strong 30lb flywheel, and many others!

Features:

30lb Flywheel: The 30lb flywheel is heavier than the average in-home elliptical trainer’s flywheel.  The heavier the wheel; the smoother the stride. This is a huge benefit!  The stride is perfect length for us, and when combined with the flywheel, it’s completely quiet.

Speakers and Fan: Although not the greatest for either, it’s definitely nice having both of them readily available. We were able to have our iPod playing through the speakers, which allowed entertainment, but couldn’t have it super loud due to speaker quality.

20” stride: The Sole E95’s stride was long and smooth, much like you would find in a much more expensive Precor machine. We didn’t notice any hard jerking motions that would be damaging to the knees, like you may find in other machines.

Adjustable Foot Pedals: Users can adjust the foot pedals to give less strain on the feet and ankles—a definite benefit! Not a lot of machines have this feature, but it’s great for anyone who has had any ankle problems.  Also, the 2 degree inward slope of the foot pedals helps reduce strain on feet and knees.

Handlebar Controls: You can control the resistance with buttons that are easily accessible on the handlebars.  Not having to look at the display to find the resistance buttons definitely helps with not getting out of rhythm on your workout. Some people complained the handlebars were too thick, but we think it just takes some getting used to.  There are also stationary handlebars for those who prefer them.

LCD Display: The 9-inch blue LCD display is designed to be user friendly.  It displays distance, time, incline, resistance, calories burned, and paced.  This display is one of the more detailed ones out there for a machine of it’s class!

In Our Opinion: The Sole E95 provided us with an intense workout thanks to how sturdy the machine is.  Obviously, our favorite feature on the machine is the heavy 30lb flywheel which allowed us to have great, smooth, and quiet strides.  Overall, the 20” stride was okay for all of us(5”4’-6”1’). The handlebar controls are one of those nice features that isn’t a necessity, but we loved it! Overall, we would recommend this machine to anyone who is looking for an intense workout with comfort.  Plus, you can’t beat the warranty!

Product Description

Enjoy an efficient full-body workout without heading to the gym with the Sole E95 elliptical trainer. Boasting a heavy 30-pound flywheel, a high gear ratio not found on most comparable models, and a pair of upper body handles, the E95 delivers an extremely smooth workout with plenty of top-end resistance. Users will also appreciate the unique oversize and adjustable foot pedals, which were designed in collaboration with a leading physical therapist and sports enthusiast. The pedals are not only extra large, but also feature a 2-degree inward slope that reduces the ankle and knee stress that's common in other elliptical machines. The collaboration also produced a revolutionary foot pedal angle adjustment not found on any other elliptical. Taking into account that not everyone walks the same way, Sole engineers made the E95's pedals adjustable to fit the way you walk. This also reduces the likelihood of numb toes and sore Achilles tendons. Workout specifics include 20 resistance levels, 10 total programs (including two custom and two heart-rate programs), and a 20-inch stride length. Perhaps the handiest feature from a user perspective, however, is the easy-to-use electronic console, which integrates a red/green display, a cooling fan, and a water bottle holder. Additional features include stationary handlebars with built-in pulse sensors for monitoring your heart rate; a heart rate chest strap for hands-free pulse monitoring; heavy-duty rails with smooth-riding wheels on the back; and a rear plastic shroud that adds additional stability for aggressive use. The E95, which offers a maximum weight capacity of 400 pounds, carries the following warranties: lifetime on the frame, five years on all parts and electronics, and two years on the labor. Sole's easy-to-use treadmills offer a great value and feature a convenient, space-saving portable design. The treadmills have a very stable base with four wheels for ease of movement, folding decks to conserve space, and a 30-year motor and lifetime deck and frame warranty. Sole is always looking for ways to make their equipment better, more efficient, with higher quality at a great price. About Elliptical Trainers Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips. Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home. Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

Many people have claimed for years that cardio is one of the most important things in exercise.  And the fact of the matter is, they are absolutely right.  Nothing else is as powerful as cardio simply due to the fact that it can not only help you lose weight faster than any other exercise, but it can also help strengthen your heart and lungs.  Running and jogging have always been the cornerstone of cardio exercise, but the elliptical machine has taken the main stage in most people’s routines.  But if you’re out there shopping for an elliptical machine, you might be asking, “Which one is right for me?”

What to Look for

Elliptical machines come in many flavors, but the main thing you should focus on when buying an elliptical is which one fits you the best.  Nothing comes close to having a machine that fits you perfectly.  A machine that is everything and the kitchen sink isn’t worth it if it doesn’t feel comfortable to you.

The biggest difference in elliptical machines is where the drive action is located.  Rear drive elliptical machines are the most comfortable machines because they have the smoothest feel to them.  However, they are most often the most expensive.  The much more popular alternative to the rear drive elliptical machine is the front drive.  They are most often much cheaper than rear drives, and they are also quite comfortable.

Another difference between many elliptical machines is whether they come with hand grips or not.  These hand grips help in training the upper body, more specifically the arms, chest and back.  Even if you don’t plan on using these grips, I recommend you get a machine with them.  You never know when you might want to use them in your routine.

What Else is There?

These aren’t the only features you should pay attention to when shopping for an elliptical machine.  They come with many different and unique features.  I’ll be looking at some of the features of the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer today.

16 Resistance Levels

There are 16 different resistance levels to choose from on the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer.  Having different resistance levels is key to a good routine.  Sometimes you’ll notice that you’re no longer getting the results you desire just running at one resistance.  Having multiple resistance levels can help bust you through that plateau.

Programs

The Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer has 10 different programs to take advantage of.  There are 6 built in programs to choose from which include everything from terrain to timed programs. It also includes 2 heart rate controlled programs which are a great thing to mix up your routine, and they are quite useful when you’re trying to maintain a certain heart rate.

Creating your own routine in the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer is an incredibly powerful tool.  You can set the resistance to increase after a certain time, or really anything else you want to do with it.  It’s one of the best features in my opinion, and it can really help with busting through plateaus.

20 Inch Stride

In my eyes, this is one of the best features of the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer.  It comes as a great relief for tall people who find an 18 inch stride to be awkward.  The 20 inch stride the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer sports makes it much more comfortable for people whose stride is above average, especially men.

350 Pound Weight Limit

This machine itself weighs 200 pounds.  It is by far the strongest and sturdiest machine I have ever reviewed.  The 350 pound weight limit comes as a great relief to people who are on the large side, and when you combine this with the increased stride length, you’re looking at the perfect machine for the man.

The Bad

It’s pretty hard to find a downside in all this good, but if I was forced to pick a downside it would have to be the price.  It’s one of the more pricy options out there, but it’s that way for a good reason.  This is without a doubt the highest quality elliptical machine I’ve seen on the market yet.  The price is up there, but if you’re one for quality, then look no further.

Does it Come With a Warranty?

The Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame, which comes at no surprise because this machine is obviously unbreakable.  It also comes a 5 year warranty on parts and electronics and a 2 year warranty on labor, both of which are the longest warranties I’ve seen on the market.  The Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer definitely comes with the best warranty of any elliptical machine on the market.

Are There Any Other Features?

There are a ton of features, but I only felt it necessary to go over the ones I personally liked the best.  Here’s the full features list of the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer:

  • Stride length: 20 inches
  • Front drive: Yes
  • Resistance type: Eddy Current Braking
  • Resistance levels: 16
  • Adjustable pedals: Yes, 3 positions

In Closing

While the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer is on the expensive side, it is without a doubt the highest quality elliptical machine on the market.  The warranty offered is not surpassed by any other, and the features are phenomenal.  If you like quality and don’t mind paying the extra price for it, this machine is definitely for you.  I give this elliptical machine two thumbs up.

Sole E95 Elliptical Trainer Review

So, looking for a workout machine that will give you the best possible quality, but sill offer the affordable price of a lower-end machine? Well, it seems that SOLE may have provided it. The E95 leads the SOLE pack as the best elliptical they offer. However, it is SO good, in fact, that it has actually been called the best buy, in every sense of the word. Is this true? Maybe. It is definitely believable. SOLE has delivered a machine that sports an electronic console, packed with all the features you have come to expect from the SOLE line, and even some little “extras” that only sweeten the deal for the E95. What can you expect? Well, how about a vibrant LED panel, the kind of readout base that is used on most club machinery! Also, the console features built in speakers, and even an mp3/ipod dock for listening to your music while you workout.

One thing that you will likely instantly  realize about the E95 is how silent it is. It is literally whisper quiet, and it also offers plenty of resistance via the 29lb flywheel and the high gear ratio. It also features a power incline, so that you can adjust the angle for maximum efficiency.

Want to know what to expect for features on the E95? Well, the features include: a 20 inch stride length; cushioned footpads; eddy current braking resistance; 20 levels of resistance; standard 110 power for ease of placement; an upper body routine; a molded handgrip; HGP; a telemetry belt; HR control and autopilot; a 20 character message window; and HR percentage Graph; a high quality track; 10 programs, including 6 standard ones; 2 user heart rate programs; installed fans; an installed water bottle holder; a plastic shroud on the rear rails; a weight of 215 lbs; and a weight capacity of 400 lbs.

So, the E95 is designed to be a monster as far as elliptical machines go. Well built, relatively inexpensive, sturdy, strong, and guaranteed with the standard SOLE warranty, which included a lifetime warranty on the frame, a 5 year parts/electronics warranty, and even a 2 year in-home service warranty! So, does the E95 live up to the SOLE hype? Well, yes. It is what they say it is, at least, that is what the customers say. Although there are some minor disgruntlements, like the fact that the E95 only has 6 standard workout programs, you do need to take into consideration that not only does this system cost less than similar systems, but  the 6 programs that it does come with work great. So, it is really about what matters more to you.  Will you like this machine? Yes. Will you regret buying it? No, not if you use it. Should you consider a more expensive brand? Not if you want to throw away money needlessly, as the E95 will suffice perfectly. So, is there a reason you should not buy this elliptical? Not really. You pretty much get what you see, a great workout machine at a cost-effective price.

Sole E55 elliptical trainer review

So, looking to buy an elliptical that will get you places? Are you tired of expensive gym memberships that you can’t even find the time to use? Well, SOLE might have the answer, in its revolutionary elliptical that is called the E55. So, what exactly is the E55? Well, it is a club quality workout machine at a fraction of the cost! Featuring a large, easy to read LCD, and also a heart rate control/pulse monitor, the E55 is a so-named blend of functionality, dependability, safety, and luxury. Is this true? Well, according to most customers, it is. The E55 packs fluid, natural motion into a machine that will give you great resistance at whisper quiet levels, perfect for the home.  However, one thing does stand out about the E55 is that it can adjust at the foot pedal for your foot. While most machines do not offer this feature, it is often overlooked that not all feet are the same. So, SOLE has made a small allowance for this, in giving their elliptical an adjustable foot pedal.

So, what can you expect as far as features go? Well, the E55 is packed, featuring: a 20 inch stride length; eddy current braking resistance; 20 levels of resistance; HGP; a telemetry belt; HR control; HR auto pilot; a backlit data display; a sturdy, guaranteed track; 10 programs; 6 standard programs; 2 user programs for heart rate monitoring; built in fans; a water bottle accessory holder; a product weight of 200 lbs; and a weight capacity of 375 lbs.

So, is this machine worth the money? Many say that SOLE has outdone itself. Customers are saying that this machine has the quality of a machine a lot more expensive, and also that the warranty is amazing. You get a lifetime warranty on the frame, a 5 year parts warranty, and a 2 year labor warranty. That is pretty good, even better than some more expensive models! Basically, SOLE is seeking to produce a high-quality, club grade elliptical at a fraction of what they normally cost, but is also trying to keep the sturdiness of the machine as good as possible. One of the worst things about most cheap elliptical equipments is that it is flimsy and not sturdy enough. So, will you need to worry about that with the E55? Uh, absolutely not! SOLE has done an excellent job of shipping a sturdy product, at a great price, with few downsides. Some customers have complained that 6 standard workout programs are not enough, but the 6 that are featured work great, so what the E55 might lack in variety, it definitely makes up in quality!

So, is the E55 a machine that you should invest in? Well, if you want a high grade elliptical at the cost of a low-budget machine, and you want to lose weight, get in shape,  and save some bucks while doing it, than I would suggest ordering the E55 right now…Why wait? Its exactly what you need.

Sole E25 Elliptical Trainer Review

Sole E25 Elliptical Trainer Review

With a stride of 20 inches, 20 levels of resistance, and an LCD display, the E25 Elliptical is a workout machine you won’t want to pass up.  This machine has been reviewed as one of the best machines for under $1000, and it isn’t difficult to see why.  Its easy to use, electronic console has a blue backlight LCD display, which works great for seeing all of the settings and readings. This machine also includes a water bottle and a built in cooling fan, both luxurious additions to say the least.  You can also listen to your mp3 player on the built in speakers and mp3 player dock, which are great additions to this model!

As far as the motion goes, it is fluid. The machine sports a whisper-quiet drive system, and functions well in both reverse and in forward motion.  The 23 lb. flywheel functions perfectly, and provides a high gear ration which is not found on comparable models, making the motion smoother than normal with plenty of resistance. There is a manual incline feature, and it has an angle that can be adjusted anywhere from 15 to 30 degrees, so this, added to the resistance settings, makes for a workout that YOU can control, not a workout that controls YOU!

So, what about specs? Here is what you get with the E25 Elliptical from SOLE fitness: 20 inches of stride length; ECB magnetic resistance type; 20 levels of resistance; upper body workout compatible; handgrip; HGP; Telemetry belt; blue backlight display; Time, distance, calorie, and level data; Profile Matrix; 10 programs; weighs 189 lbs; will support 325 lbs.

So, what are other customers saying about SOLE’s E25 Elliptical? Well, to have that many resistance levels on a unit that costs less than $1000 is actually quite a feat. Also, the built in ipod/mp3 player dock and speakers are features that have been highly praised by customers. Also, this model has been tested in a number of Hilton hotels, and have proven outstanding for enduring long, vigorous workouts over and over. Also, it is said that the warranty is superb, and many have said that the unit is so user friendly, that it won’t even matter if you haven’t used one before, you can definitely figure it out. Some have expressed complaints about the number of workout programs, however, they also usually say that while they wish they had more, the E25 is worth every penny, as it is inexpensive for what you get.

So, is the E25 worth the money? I would say yes.  A well built machine from a reputable company, it has withstood the tests of time and vigorous workouts over and over. I am pretty sure that whoever decides on this machine will not only be satisfied, but will likely never want to change fitness machines ever again. So, yes, the E25 is worth the money, it is a great deal, and you will definitely not regret your purchase.
